Inslee Haynes Fariss - Portrait for a Fashionista

We’ve fallen in love with the works of Inslee Haynes Fariss. Based in New York City, this artist and illustrator is the creative entrepreneur behind Inslee by Design. Working from her studio in Soho, she creates gorgeous papeterie, prints and custom illustrations. From collaborating with stationers to live-painting events, her work has been showcased by names like Neiman Marcus, Lela Rose and Elizabeth Arden.

Inslee brings a soft, yet energetic, touch to her artwork - whether they may be lifelike botanical sketches, pen-and-ink fashion portraits or sensual figure studies in watercolour and sumi ink, each piece holds movement with grace. Having started out in illustration by designing her own lines of artful stationery, she eventually turned her passion for drawing into a full time career. Her work today is still characterized by an amazing attention to petite details and colour palettes that bring her figures to life atop a simple background of white paper.

One of our favourite creations has to be Inslee’s annual calendar - a year’s work of fashion inspiration with women sketched to perfection in every season. Her illustrations strut, stroll, and dance through the months with different occasions, outfits, and accessories to match. With long-limbed figures and swinging skirts in soft watercolours, her artistic style has a classic vintage vibe that combines spirited, human movements with totally chic ensembles!
