Looking Forward: Inspiration for Fall Fashion

Already the design studio is stocked with rolls of plush textiles and cosy knits. Sketched dresses and snips of suiting cover the walls in a collage of plans and ideas. So take a peek at the spread before you - a new season and a new style on its way!

After a summer of modern graphics and black-on-white minimalism, this fall will bring a range of rich colours and exotic prints. Drawing inspiration from Polynesian patterns, Mick Jagger in performance, 70s style kimono dresses and Malika Favre’s pop art prints, Bergstrom Original’s upcoming collection is woven together with tradition and innovation.

Among the fabrics hand-picked for the new designs are kilim tapestry prints, Moroccan style paisley and kaleidoscopic spikes. Through vast medallions and repeated geometrics we can achieve a beautiful sense of balance. Picture bold, regal dresses with these patterns perfectly centred: a statement in symmetry that wraps angles around your curves.

Featured this season is a fantastic array of reds - warming up winter in hues from bright poppy to deep burgundy. Dusty pinks, red wines and soft greys mingle from piece to pattern in gorgeous combination, giving depth to a printed textile while keeping the colour palette elegantly composed.

Neutrals will add a tender, delicate side to the collection. Taupe and grey zigzag through a Missoni style weave. A gently textured, felted knit becomes a deconstructed sweater jacket  - raw edged and soft as shearling. Simple and timeless, the coalescence of cream, black and variegated greys embrace elegance with a touch of earthiness.

A look at 60s style icons speaks to the feminine side of the line. A kimono dress with trailing bell sleeves meets the evening in Japanese floral. Loose chiffon blouses tuck into subtly polka-dotted suiting. Harking back to images of Anita Pallenberg and Jane Birkin, all is romance and glamour.

Looking forward to cool breezes and refreshing styles, the approaching Fall/Winter Collection is pulling threads from all of these inspirations and taking form - from the design studio’s samples to your wardrobe.
