Scandinavian heritage and a passion for midcentury design epitomize the retro modern style in Christina Bergstrom’s eponymous womenswear line Bergstrom Originals. With bold colours and clean prints permeating her collections, Christina’s designs stand out from the sea of muted monotones - giving her brand a clear distinction while maintaining a sophisticated edge.

Combining her civil engineering degree from Queen’s University and her tailoring diploma from København’s Tilskaerer Akademi in Copenhagen, Christina has a sharp eye for fit and cut. Drawing inspiration from modernist architecture, vintage fashion, ceramics and contemporary graphic design, Christina combines dynamic prints and timeless structures in an effortless style for everyday wear. Now at home in her east Toronto design studio, she and her team create four clothing collections each year.

Christina oversees every aspect of production, maintaining the high standard for quality and construction that has made her brand a success. From sourcing fabrics to working with local cutters and sewers, she ensures fair and equitable pay for all levels of her manufacturing processes.

The Bergstrom Originals retail concept was founded in 2003 by Christina and her husband, photographer Andrew Gater. Over the last 13yrs it has evolved into a lifestyle brand, incorporating footwear, handbags and accessories - all personally curated by Christina.

Bergstrom Originals has a strong commitment to give back to the community. Christina is proud to be involved in ongoing local community efforts within Toronto’s east end. In addition, Bergstrom Originals has contributed to fundraising efforts and donations to Princess Margaret Hospital, Dressed for Success and Open Circles.
